Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s

I’m calling these two done; I know the Hobbyboss A-7’s get a real kicking by other modellers due to dimensional and shape issues and the A-7K is no exception, however the biggest improvements you can make to the actual LOOK of the model is to alter the air intake and rear exhaust as described inContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s”

Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s

I’m waiting on paint so that I can finish the ICM Ambulance so I took the masking tape off the canopies on both A-7’s. The Fujimi one was OK but the Hobbyboss two seater has a lot of particles stuck to the inside; Not sure where all that crap has come from as I’m prettyContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s”

I finally got the decals on this week and today I put a dark brown pin wash on both models to bring out the detail; I wasn’t too happy with the quality of the Superscale decals as the white on the drop-shadow LV tailcode and 4450 TG number was poorly printed. I did have aContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s”

That the gear bays, gear bay doors, landing gear, wheels and avionics bays sprayed and the masking removed. For a change I didn’t get any overspray on other parts of the models that didn’t have masking tape either; Now I can get on with putting the decals on and with a bit of luck getContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s”

Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s

While I’m waiting for the filler to set on the Revell Dornier 28, I masked off the wheel wells and gear bay doors on both A-7’s (along with both open avionics bays on the Hobbyboss A-7K). The wheel centres, gear, gear bays and doors will all be sprayed white, the avionic bays and doors onContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsair II’s”

Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsairs

All nice and shiny! After touching up a bit of overspray here and there I gloss coated both models to prepare them for decals and washes. For this I sprayed the models in sections using Tamiya X-22 then followed up with a mist coat of Mr Hobby SLT (Self Levelling Thinners). The results are greatContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsairs”

The two-tone wraparound camouflage has been painted on the Fujimi A-7D so now the masking is off I just need to touch up a couple of areas. I will then mask of the wheel wells and doors and along with the previously assembled undercarriage spray these all white. One thing I am noticing is tinyContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsairs”

I’ve finally got the painting underway, the Hobbyboss A-7K will be in the S.E. Asia wraparound scheme of FS30219 Tan, FS34079 Forest Green and FS34102 Light Green. The Fujimi A-7D will be in the ‘European 1’ scheme of FS36081 Dark Grey and FS34079 Forest Green. Mr Hobby colours will be used mostly but thinned withContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsairs”

Fujimi and Hobbyboss A-7 Corsairs

I’ve nearly finished with the two cockpits and all that is needed is a coat of matt varnish, the HUD glasses fitted, the front windscreens and possibly the canopies as I haven’t decided whether to keep them open or not. Once this is all done I can get on with painting them both; The reasonContinue reading “Fujimi and Hobbyboss A-7 Corsairs”

Hasegawa 1/48 F-16C, Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7’s

After giving the three models a coat of black primer I’ve made a start on painting the cockpits, once painted they will be masked off and the various colour schemes applied. Wheel wells and the open avionics bays on the Hobbyboss A-7K will be painted after as to me it would be easier to maskContinue reading “Hasegawa 1/48 F-16C, Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7’s”
