Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII finished

I managed to finally finish this one at last, it’s been ongoing for awhile but time to call it done; I’m quite happy with it as it’s the first ever WW1 aircraft in 1/48 that I have ever finished (The Eduard Albatros went to landfill earlier this year).I’ve learned a LOT from this build whichContinue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII finished”

Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII

With the Viking finished and needing to while away the small hours I put the decals on this; Once they have set I’ll give it another coat of varnish to seal the decals in, a coat of matt varnish then try my hand at weathering a WW1 aircraft which should be a giggle. I’m hopingContinue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

Yet another one pulled from the Shelf-Of-Doom is this Fokker that I started last year and promptly messed up when it came to the wing. Since then I’ve had a think and made a slightly different approach to the finish. After stripping the wing back to bare plastic I resprayed it with a white glossContinue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

Fokker E.V/ D.VIII

I masked off the wing last night so that I could spray the white band around the leading and trailing edges and wing tips. I had a sneaking suspicion that all would not be well as even after a month or so the varnish was still susceptible to finger prints, anyway after spraying the whiteContinue reading “Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

Trying to figure out how to hold the wing so that I could paint the upper surface I hit on the idea of using a clamp. I was’nt bothered about losing or smudging the paint on the leading and trailing edges as there would be a white trim around the wing that would cover them.Continue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

Fokker E.V/ D.VIII

In between undercoating the E-50 and painting skirting board in the house I had a go at painting the wing of the Fokker E.V/ D.VIII. If you recall previously I had covered the wing in Uschi Van Der Rosten plywood decal then matt varnished it. Today I used oil paints to try and recreate theContinue reading “Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII

I’ve now completely covered the wing in Uschi Van Der Rosten woodgrain decal and after cleaning up the excess the wing will be coated with matt varnish, when dry I shall attempt the streaky camouflage colours on the top and bottom using oil paint. Obviously these will take ages to dry so in the meantimeContinue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

I’m reaching the end of the decalling phase (more or less) as I put the white trim on the fuselage and tail plane and started applying the woodgrain decal on the wing, I’ve never used so much Kleer on a model as I have on this one. The white on the tailplane will need toContinue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”

Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII

Today was spent decalling the rest of the fuselage, again using the excellent Aviattic product. I used the kit supplied lozenge as templates for the fuselage and it’s strikng just how different the colours are (mind you the kit does date from the 90’s). The lozenge requires rib tapes on the tailplane and Aviattic stateContinue reading “Dragon Fokker E.V/ D.VIII”
