Revell 1/72 Dornier 28 & Hasegawa 1/72 F-104G

With the ICM 1/48 O-2A getting close to being finished I’ve put these two back on the bench with a view to getting them both done. Progress on the F-104 is slow due to the sheer amount of stencils that have to be applied but it’s getting there, the Dornier 28 I’m not so sureContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier 28 & Hasegawa 1/72 F-104G”

After touching up a couple of areas, the model got a light overspray of a very thinned basecoat; Looking at the two photo’s there doesn’t seem to be much difference after overspraying but there is. All I need to do now is paint the anti-glare panel on the nose, the leading edges of the wingsContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

After a LOT of masking, I was finally able to get the camouflage scheme sprayed using Hataka C149 Concrete Grey (RAL7023) and C192 Basalt Grey (RAL7012). These are from the Orange Line lacquer range as I find they spray better than their acrylics. The two colours need lightening up a bit as they are quiteContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

With the ICM ambulance done I’m trying to get this finished before the year is out. I had built the exhausts but Tamiya Extra Thin was too strong for the 5 thou (0.03mm) plastic I had used plus after looking at reference pictures the shape was wrong too; Tonight I removed the exhausts and madeContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2

I spent a few hours on this today trying to make some progress on it. Having glued the new resin engine fronts onto the nacelles last weekend I sanded down the filler that was needed and removed what little detail there was. The ribbing on the cowlings was replaced with heat-stretched sprue plus various shapesContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

While in between projects like the Model T Ambulance I finished off an engine front for the Dornier Do28. Although Matchbox (who moulded this kit originally back in the 70’s) made a fair attempt of the engine front for the time, unfortunately they got it 180 degrees out. Also the bottom lip of the frontContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

The fuselage has been glued together and most of the extra work in the cabin is now hidden but at least I know it’s there lol. As you can see, the fuselage required a lot of filler for as well as the poor fuselage joint there are sink marks in four places so that willContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2

I think that will do for painting the cockpit and cabin, I just need to stick the cabin windows in then I can get the fuselage closed up; The kit decal for the instrument doesn’t look that bad really and for what you will be able to see through the windscreen it’s enough…in fact forContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2

I’ve finished scratchbuilding the cockpit and cabin as with the cabin doors shut you won’t see much of the inside once it is painted; Although I lined the inside of the fuselage with 0.005thou plastic sheet, I also made a partial roof for the cabin to hide where the wings fit. What very few interiorContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”

Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2

Gawwwd this is basic….anyhow I’ve made a new instrument panel and centre console as the kit supplied items are dismal; After some work tonight, this is where I’m at so far; Because of the holes in the fuselage where the wings and engine pods locate, I decided to line the insides with 0.005thou (0.35mm) plasticContinue reading “Revell 1/72 Dornier Do28D-2”
