Eduard 1/48 Fw109A-8 and 190D-9

With both the Airfix 1/48 Spitfire XIV and Arma Hobby 1/72 Nakajima Ki-84 done and off the bench, work continues of the two Eduard 1/48 Fw190s. You might recall an earlier post I made regarding the craters in the trailing edges of the Fw190D-9 wings caused by too much glue on thin plastic. These showed…

Arma Hobby 1/72 Nakajima Ki84 Hayate

Well that’s another one finished, I’m on a roll this week! To be honest after the gloss coat went on originally I thought it looked horrible but today after spraying the model with VMS semi-gloss varnish, it took on a different look and I knew I could work with it again. After having issues spraying…

Arma Hobby 1/72 Nakajima Ki84 Hayate

Seeing that the Airfix Spitfire XIV is finished I thought it was about time to get this one done as well; This one stalled as I wasn’t particularly enjoying the build plus two of the national insignia reacted badly with the enamel wash that I had used so it was shelved earlier this year. A…

  1. Leave your bloody rivet tool in the draw.
If the rivets were that prominent, the thing would be pulled off the line for loose rivets.
Also inside of jet pipes are earth brown not black. I know cause I’ve had to crawl up the b’stards for years. Moveable nozzles are covered in thick black grease

  2. Afternoon Andy,
I am or I thought I was close to completing this build, but to be honest I am quite disappointed with this Kit 48272 Do 217J-1/J2 Variant 3.

I thought I was following the picture guide correctly, but something has gone wrong.

In the picture guides, picture 08 shows the part C7 and where it should be fitted.
This I believe I did correctly as I had to put it into the cut out sections of the parts A20 and A2.

In picture 18 it then shows the part B1 and it goes behind C7.
Then we get to picture 71 showing the pieces to fit into F1.
Picture 72 then shows the completed item 71 and it should fit into the places where the picture shows.

In my build this is impossible.

    Can you please help?

  3. Hi Vincent,
Any chance you could take some pics of your model please? I’m not sure why the canopy doesn’t fit as on my model it was pretty good.
In step 18 the wing should fit on top of C7 and not behind as that part is a wing spar.
