I’ve made a couple of boobs on this as I followed the Fujimi painting instructions rather than look at actual photographs of the real vehicle. First off is the drivers position as I’ve painted it grey rather than yellow;

The other thing is that grey should be almost black as I believe the top surfaces were coated in anti-slip paint. What makes it a bit tricky is that I’ve already applied some of the decals;

This means I can’t spray the drivers position or the top of the vehicle so I’ll have to brush paint them instead. Duh…
Speaking of decals I must say for a kit that has been in the stash for 30-odd years they went on perfectly, all that is left are numbers to go on the top and this will be done once I’ve repainted the grey and gloss varnished the model.
As regards the fire engine, that needs a bit more work as photographs of the actual vehicle show a mesh screen on the top rear and this has been missed by Fujimi. The model will also require some careful masking as the red hatched lines on the front and rear require masking and painting, while I’m at it I’ll mask the diagonal stripes on the sides and rear as I’ll never match the red decals.
I was hoping to get at least one of them finished tonight but it will have to wait for my next off days from work.
Edit; I repainted the top of the vehicle, drivers compartment plus the ends of the tow hitches were painted red as seen on reference photos;

Once the decal solution has done its stuff on the large numbers on the top, I’ll give them a coat of gloss varnish then I can get on with the pin washes and details such as paint chipping.
You got this! Still looks pretty good!
