AMT 1/25 1989 Corvette Convertible

Seriously???

Two huge locating pins to attach the windscreen (or windshield for my American viewers)…this model is not going to be easy.

So far I’ve built the engine but that is hugely simplified so because life is too short, the bonnet (hood) will be glued into place and I’ll concentrate on the exterior as I’m not going to super detail the engine. Another thing is that the plastic is very soft so sanding is going to require fine grades of wet and dry to avoid heavy scratches.

It’s been a VERY long time (probably 40 years) since I built an AMT kit and at the time I didn’t know any better. I have heard some horror stories over the years about them but if you want a model of an American car then AMT are the only ones around.

I've been a modelmaker for a verrry long time and still show no signs of growing out of it after 50 plus years. I mainly build tanks, aircraft and paint figures but generally do whatever takes my fancy whether it's historical, Science-fiction, a 'what-if' or because it has pretty colours and looks nice.
