Arma Hobby 1/72 FM-2 Wildcat

I’ve been doing this model for a group build on The Interesting Modelling Company’s Facebook page for ‘Arma april’ and it’s actually finished in time for the end of the month;

aerial wires were done with EZ Line.

It’s quite a nice kit with generally a good fit of parts, however when trying to fit the engine cowling there was a large gap between it and the front of the fuselage;

In the end I had to do some serious trimming of the firewall (part B11) and sand down the circumference of the engine to get it all to fit properly. Again it might just be down to me but I would advise that you check the fit before painting. Another thing was the fit of the wings as I pointed out in an earlier post but apart from those it is a nice model.

Weathering was kept to a minimum with a dark brown wash for the flying surfaces and oil streaks around the cowling with a medium grey wash from Mig Productions PLW range.

I've been a modelmaker for a verrry long time and still show no signs of growing out of it after 50 plus years. I mainly build tanks, aircraft and paint figures but generally do whatever takes my fancy whether it's historical, Science-fiction, a 'what-if' or because it has pretty colours and looks nice. I'm hoping that you find my blog interesting and useful, particularly if building a model that I have built and documented here.
