Italeri 1/35 M24 Chaffee

That’s one set of tracks fitted; These are the link-and-length tracks supplied in the kit as well as vinyl ones. The fit was pretty good to be fair although I had to put in an extra link to get the track to meet up. There is a little bit too much sag as American tanksContinue reading “Italeri 1/35 M24 Chaffee”

Italeri 1/35 M24 Chaffee

This was one of four kits I received from Model Military International magazine just after Christmas. Three of them I did as in-box reviews but I fancied doing the Chaffee as a full build review so this is where I’m up to at the moment; The kit dates back to the mid-70’s and it showsContinue reading “Italeri 1/35 M24 Chaffee”

Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey

The decals have been applied and they went on fairly well with just a couple of issues; If you have this particular set from Wolfpak you need to trim the carrier film from the centres of the cabin window decals. Also make sure you research your subject and not go by the placement instructions asContinue reading “Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey”

Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey

The model has now been glossed varnished using Tamiya X-22 Clear followed by an overspray of Mr Hobby Self Levelling Thinners; As I thought, the varnish has darkened it down a bit and the colour now looks closer to the Ospreys in the reference pics I have. I WOULD say at this point that theContinue reading “Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey”

Tamiya 1/35 Leopard 2A6

As the Hasegawa CV-22B Osprey is up to the varnishing stage and I had some time last night, I decided to get the Leopard 2A6 back on the bench and get the build finished as there wasn’t that much to do on the model. It actually took longer than I expected as the smoke dischargersContinue reading “Tamiya 1/35 Leopard 2A6”

Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey

The model has had the final bits painted such as the dome on the upper fuselage, the leading edges of the fins sprayed with a mix of the base colour (LP-12) and XF-53 Flat Earth with the de-icing boots on the wings and props sprayed black. Also the undersides were touched up where the upperContinue reading “Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey”

Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey

That’s the model sprayed and all that is left to do prior to varnishing is some touch up work where the top coat has found gaps in the masking tape for the undersides. The props need re-spraying as a couple of areas were missed, the wing de-icing boots need painting black plus the dome onContinue reading “Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey”

Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey

The model was sprayed with a black primer coat that showed up some poor joints and construction so after these were attended to and the engine intakes, wheel wells and undercarriage sprayed white, I began spraying the finishing colours. Now, the Osprey’s in USAF service are in a two-tone scheme of FS36118 Gunship Grey overContinue reading “Hasegawa 1/72 CV-22B Osprey”

Airfix 1/72 Mosquito Mk.II/ VI/ XVIII

Seeing that I have been doing this model-making lark for 50 years this year, I fancied taking a trip down memory lane with a couple of kits I built as a kid. One of them is the 1970’s era Airfix 1/72 Mosquito Mk. II/ VI/ XVIII and from what I remember it was a prettyContinue reading “Airfix 1/72 Mosquito Mk.II/ VI/ XVIII”
