Base coat day

Seeing that I was spraying the Italeri T-34/85 today with a black base coat, I did the Thunderbirds Mole as well and managed to do it JUST before a rain shower. The Mole also had the body sprayed white as this will be yellow and the drill was sprayed with Tamiya AS-12. The Tamiya spray is actually aluminium but I will be polishing the drill with a gun metal pigment and some graphite powder;

I’ve had a bit of a mishap with one of the wheels on the mole as the first inner wheel that I cast was from resin that had gone beyond its shelf-life and as a consequence it has been slowly reacting with the plastic wheel. I managed to remove the inner wheel but some ‘jelly’ remains so I’ve made a mould of the other drive sprocket and will cast a new one. All the other wheels are fine so they have been painted, I just need to spray the new one when it is set.

I've been a modelmaker for a verrry long time and still show no signs of growing out of it after 48 years. I mainly build tanks, aircraft and paint figures but generally do whatever takes my fancy whether it's historical, Science-fiction, a 'what-if' or because it has pretty colours and looks nice. I'm hoping that you find my blog interesting and useful, particularly if building a model that I have built and documented here.
