Italeri 1/72 T-55A

I was going to make resin inserts for the back of the wheels on the Thunderbirds Mole but the casting stuff I’ve been using has gone past its shelf life so I have to wait until next week before some new stuff arrives. Meanwhile I’ve been cracking on with the Italeri 1/72 T-55A that I’m doing a build review of for Model Military Int’l magazine and although 1/72 is not my favourite scale for AFV’s, this has been a pretty decent kit so far;

It could do with some refining in areas such as the brush guard for the lights and handles on the turret but I’m building it straight from the box so that the punters can see what they are getting for their money. Fit of parts has been pretty good so far and although the instructions say use a hair dryer to bend the tracks around the wheels, I found you can gently bend them using tweezers and it proved to be far quicker.

If you want to know more about the build then look out for a future issue of Model Military International.

I've been a modelmaker for a verrry long time and still show no signs of growing out of it after 48 years. I mainly build tanks, aircraft and paint figures but generally do whatever takes my fancy whether it's historical, Science-fiction, a 'what-if' or because it has pretty colours and looks nice. I'm hoping that you find my blog interesting and useful, particularly if building a model that I have built and documented here.
