Fujimi and Hobbyboss 1/72 A-7 Corsairs

Before being distracted by the Hasegawa 1/48 F-16 outlined in the previous post, I managed to prime the ejection seats and instrument panels with black from a rattle can. I really wanted to get some paint on both aircraft too but at the last minute I noticed that the Hobbyboss kit doesn’t have the horizontal blade aerials on the fin top so after cutting a slot in the fin I inserted a strip of 0.10thou styrene strip either side;

Also I took the opportunity to compare the main wheels as I received another resin replacement set recently. I was going to use the Hobbyboss ones after increasing the width and sanding them to shape but as you can see in the photo they are really undersize;

From top to bottom; Hobbyboss, Fujimi, Scale Resin and Res-Kit

The Fujimi wheels are better but have no detail on the inner faces so in future resin wheels are the way to go with Res-Kit looking to be the best so far.

I've been a modelmaker for a verrry long time and still show no signs of growing out of it after 50 plus years. I mainly build tanks, aircraft and paint figures but generally do whatever takes my fancy whether it's historical, Science-fiction, a 'what-if' or because it has pretty colours and looks nice. I'm hoping that you find my blog interesting and useful, particularly if building a model that I have built and documented here.
